Hélène Paulette Côté, Josh & Myrtle
Josh & Myrtle, Acrylic on natural birch panel, 30x40x1.5" 2024 $975.00
Part of the June-July 2025 Resident Artist Exhibition
Santa Fe has long been one of my favorite places, so I was thrilled to discover Jen’s Studio Residency program. I came last year to break free from constraints and challenge my creative comfort zone—it was a transformative experience. This year, I’ve returned with my husband and our little dog, who’s now become my studio muse.
The inspiration for “Josh & Myrtle” comes from my love of the desert. One of my favorite natural forms is the Joshua Tree and for one of our anniversaries, my husband gave us a magnificent Myrtillocactus. It’s flourished—doubling in size and surviving several of the Bay Area’s infamous atmospheric rivers.
“Josh & Myrtle” reflects not only the rugged beauty of the desert, but also the quiet resilience of a long partnership.
