From the solo exhibition, Witch, Please (May-June, 2024)

"Witch, please"

How can we, as a society, rid the world of inequality, double-standards, and misogyny? Who knows, nothing’s worked so far! Sounds like a great time to dust off some old school witchcraft. Historically, of course, women who were labeled and punished for being “witches” were only guilty of being intelligent women with opinions and ideas who dared to challenge the patriarchy. In “Witch, please”, I’ll do the same! The show has three types of work : collages on paper, text pieces on panel, and mixed media 3D collage on panel. My spells contain bits of nature made from clay, chunks of rose quartz, flashes of gold, and a whole bunch of dry humor. This modern-day magic wards off everything from mansplaining and name-calling, to being “grabbed by the p*ssy” and, oh, so much more. - Danielle Krysa, 2024
